Do the Tail Lights require additional reflectors?
  • Tail lights that have a clear or smoked (black) lens do not have an intergrated red reflective surface and require two addition red reflectors to pass an MOT. These reflectors are supplied with the tail lights. Please note that the reflectors are required by law and if they are not fitted then the vehicle can be deemed to be illegal for road use and if involved in an accident the insurance company can refuse to pay out. All other tail lights have an intergrated red reflective surface and are road legal and will pass an MOT unless otherwise specified.

Do you supply bulbs with the lights?
  • Any indicators or side repeaters that require non-standard (differ from original equipment) bulbs will have these included in the sale.

Do you supply the wiring harness with the lights?
  • Any light that requires a non-standard (differ from original equipment) wiring harness will have this included in the sale. Replacing the harness is a simple procedure that requires unclipping the old harness and clipping in the new one. Nothing more.

Why is condensation forming on the inside of the lens?
  • Condensation forming inside a light unit is not considered to be a fault by manufacturers, as it is impossible to avoid – particularly in a cold, predominantly damp climate such as the UK’s. The combination of a hot bulb and moist air will unavoidably lead to condensation in a light unit from time to time. This will not be so obvious where the lens is amber or red, but a clear lens will allow any condensation inside the unit to be immediately visible. There is always some moisture in the air, and warm air can hold more moisture than cold air. When the air inside the light unit – which is warmed by the heat from the bulbs – touches the inside of the lens (which is at a lower temperature because it is in contact with the colder air outside), the layer of air against the inside of the lens cools down as well, and as a result it can no longer retain the moisture it is holding, which is deposited on the inside of the lens to form condensation. The condensation will only disappear once the air inside the light unit warms up enough to absorb the moisture again, and in winter this can take some time. Condensation is NOT indicative of a fault with a light unit, and as such it isn’t accepted as a reason for a warranty return. Condensation occurs in original equipment lights as well, but aftermarket lenses often have clear lenses without any patterns, so the condensation is more obvious. On a patterned original equipment lens it might no be visible at all unless one looks closely.

All lamps with clear lenses are sold with removable stickers on the lenses advising customers of the risk of visible condensation and they are requested to return the lamps immediately, unused, if they do not wish to accept this.

Many headlights have vents on the back to allow air to circulate. These usually have a push-fit curved rubber tube on them, which should be pointing downward to prevent water running in. Check to see if any of them are missing or out of position
